The best rush of the year – although, frankly, it didn’t feel like it at the time – was sitting down here and presenting the Peace Report 2009 to TV and print journalists. It felt really tough and pretty strange in many ways to be sitting on that podium, but it was one of those things that get you out of your comfort zone in a good way. A little pep-talk by good friends helped, too. And after all, it is a great chance to have this sort of forum to let the political elite of this country know what the German peace and conflict research scene thinks about global hotspots like Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, parts of Africa etc. pp. I am actually looking forward to doing it again next year. That’s a success then, no?
